Two engineers. One uncompromising standard.
Fortis Substrata was founded in 2018 by Alister Johnston and Scott Mackenzie after two decades of work on defence bunkers and off-grid habitats. The company is founded and based in Kilsyth, Victoria, operating from a private workshop in the Dandenong foothills, and delivers no more than six installations per year — each one bonded, permitted, and privately owned.

Founding Partners
Former lead architect for subterranean defence infrastructure. Alister oversees vault sealing mechanics, monolithic pours, and every load-bearing decision that keeps the shell intact for decades.
Specialist in survival logistics and offline intelligence. Scott architects the air-gapped Aegis-9 core, environmental regulation, and the twelve-month provisioning stack that lives inside every shelter.

The Standard
No shelter leaves the workshop until it can hold for a year, alone.
Every install is pressure-tested, environmentally sealed, and stocked with a twelve-month provisioning module before handover. Owners receive lifetime maintenance and a discreet decade-long service contract.
